45th Biennial MSCFF Convention

The Missouri State Council of Fire Fighters held its 45th Biennial Convention on August 24th and 25th at the Lodge of the Four Seasons.  Tony Kelly, from Springfield, Missouri Local 152 was elected to a 2 year term as President of the MSCFF.  Kirk Lair from Central Jackson County Local 3133 was elected as Secretary-Treasurer for a 2 year term.  The elections for District Vice Presidents were as follows: 1st District: Scott Kohler, Lee’s Summit Fire, Local 2195; 2nd District: David Brown, Lake Ozark Fire, Local 3987; 3rd District: Chris Molitor, St. Louis City, Local 73; no one was nominated for the position of 4th District Vice President at this convention.   Mark Habbas, St. Louis County, Local 2665 was elected to the position of Legislative Affairs Director.
 
General President Schaitberger attended the Convention and addressed the Delegate body on the morning of August 25th and 2nd District Vice President Mark Woolbright was also present.   The MSCFF recognized and honored several Legislators for their support of Firefighter/EMS initiatives throughout this past legislative session. The Legislator of the Year Awards went to Senator Tom Dempsey (R), District 23 from St. Charles, MO and House Representative Mark Bruns (R), District 113, Jefferson City, MO.
 
Several workshops were held for the delegates and President Smith and Legislative Director Mark Habbas provided a detailed explanation of the legislation that was passed during the past session including our new Public Safety Officers Line-of-duty Death Benefit. 

Darrell Smith and Nancy Inwood from MDA were also in attendance and provided encouragement on the part of the delegates to participate in this year’s "Fill the Boot" campaign.
