Liberty Shop with a Cop
Jan 12, 2010
This year the Liberty Police Department held its Annual Shop with a Cop Program which benefited twelve (12) underprivileged children buy Christmas gifts for themselves and their family members. The organization made sure that the children had good shoes, socks and clothing items to keep them warm during the winter months.

One child took on a special meaning this year as his mother was killed in a car accident a few days prior to the event. The boy was not able to attend the December 12, 2009, shop day event at the Sears Grand Store in Liberty. Officers contributed additional money to buy him extra presents and clothes since he will now be living with his grandparents.

The Executive Board of Local 42 authorized expenditures from Local 42 Community Assistance to the Liberty Police Officers Association for this annual event. Among those providing financial assistance were the Liberty Fraternal Order of Police, the Liberty Masonic Lodge, IAFF Local 42 and Sears Grand.
